Decent Land Labs Secures $3M in Funding for WeaveVM Blockchain Solution
Decent Land Labs has successfully raised $3 million in funding to advance the development of WeaveVM, a groundbreaking layer 1 blockchain designed to tackle the EVM storage challenge. This innovative platform aims to merge EVM compatibility with Arweave's scalable storage solution, providing permanent data storage and seamless interoperability for developers on both EVM and Arweave blockchains.
Key participants in this funding round include Foresight Ventures, LD Capital, Big Brain Holdings, and Longhash Ventures, along with angel investments from partners at Web3.com Ventures. The raised capital will be utilized to enhance the project's EVM expertise, ecosystem incentives, and overall growth trajectory.
Benjamin Brandall, co-founder and CEO of Decent Land Labs, emphasized the significance of addressing the storage limitations within the EVM ecosystem, stating, "EVM is the gold standard for compute, but the world computer lacks a hard drive. Storage remains a persistent challenge in the EVM landscape, with exorbitant costs and minimal incentivization for archival nodes. Eliminating this barrier will unlock a myriad of opportunities for fully on-chain applications in the realms of gaming, social finance, and real-world integrations."
WeaveVM resolves on-node storage constraints inherent in traditional EVM chains by leveraging Arweave's permanent storage layer. This enables seamless deployment and interaction with existing EVM and Arweave contracts through ERC-7689 (smart blobs).
Decent Land Labs is dedicated to accelerating the growth of the Arweave permaweb and has a track record of developing protocols that leverage Arweave's permanent storage capabilities, broadening the network's accessibility. The team also actively contributes to the Ethereum open-source community, particularly in enhancing the reth codebase, which serves as the foundation for WeaveVM and Ethereum ERCs.
Furthermore, Decent Land Labs is actively working on establishing interoperability between EVM chains and Arweave's newly-launched compute layer. The team is currently developing the first EVM-to-compute bridge and launched an EVM data indexer on compute earlier this year.
