PRESS RELEASE.
London, United Kingdom – Monday, 17 February 2025
Today,
BitcoinOS (BOS)
, the smart contract operating system for Bitcoin, announces the launch of the
BitcoinOS Grail Bridge testnet app
, a pioneering solution that enables the secure and trustless transfer of
BTC
between various blockchain networks.
This first-stage testnet release provides a tangible tool for both users and builders. The Grail app features one-way bridging from Bitcoin testnet to EVM chains.
Initial integrations have been completed on Ethereum Holešky, Base Sepolia, Mode Sepolia, and Merlin Chain Testnet. Leading up to this launch, the
first Bitcoin ZK bridge transaction had been executed on Merlin Chain
in November 2024.
Users will be able to use the Grail app across several popular wallets including OKX, Xverse, Unisat, Bitget, and those supported by Wallet Connect.
Edan Yago, core contributor to BOS says, “With deployment already secured with key projects across crypto and web3 ecosystems as partners, this milestone marks a significant step towards BOS’s mission to unlock Bitcoin’s “holy grail” solution for trustless scaling, while preserving the stability and integrity of Bitcoin’s core protocol.
Launching the Grail app with EVM chains benefits the maximum number of stakeholders who have been eagerly anticipating being able to use BOS. We are leveraging EVM chain’s proven track record with ZKP and dominance in DeFi. Approximately 90% of DeFi activity occurs on such chains and the majority of wrapped Bitcoin resides in these environments, making them an ideal starting point.”
Grail represents cutting-edge infrastructure that enables the secure, trustless transfer of
BTC
between various blockchain networks. It is the first conceived application of
BitSNARK
, BOS’ zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) verification system.
Unlike traditional bridges that rely on custodians, multi-signature schemes, and consensus models, Grail leverages advanced ZKP, through BitSNARK, to provide maximum cryptographic security with minimal trust assumptions.
At the heart of the Grail innovation is the “honest singleton” trust model, which revolutionizes bridge security. Unlike conventional bridges, which depend on multi-signature setups vulnerable to dishonest actors, the BOS approach ensures that a single honest node can prevent fraudulent transactions. This makes Grail significantly more secure than existing alternatives, offering a far superior solution for scaling Bitcoin in a decentralized manner.
Two-way bridging is targeted to be ready at the end of Q1 2025, alongside a small-scale transaction from Ethereum to Bitcoin on mainnet to be completed.
The full mainnet launch is targeted in Q2 2025, after comprehensive security audits and integration with non-EVM ecosystems like Cardano,
Solana
, and others.

About BitcoinOS
BitcoinOS
is the ultimate upgrade to Bitcoin. Its breakthroughs in the use of ZK proofs allow it to embed any computation directly into Bitcoin transactions. This allows for a shared infrastructure layer for the first true Bitcoin L2s that feature total L1 security, trustless bridging, scalability, natively private transactions, and fully programmable tokens on Bitcoin.
BOS’s modular infrastructure acts as an operating system that creates seamless interoperability among all L2s within the system. As such, BOS fully maintains Bitcoin’s network effects, and establishes a permissionless, peaceful paradigm for the original chain to evolve in layers without ever needing to fork its code.
