Bitgo Receives MiCA License from BaFin
Bitgo has announced that it has received a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) license from Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), allowing the company to offer regulated digital asset services across the European Union. This regulatory approval marks a significant expansion for Bitgo Europe GmbH, which was established in Frankfurt in 2023 as the company’s EU headquarters and already holds registrations in several member states, including Italy, Spain, Poland, and Greece. With the MiCA license, Bitgo can operate under a unified regulatory framework throughout the EU, enhancing its ability to support both crypto-native companies and traditional financial institutions. Harald Patt, Managing Director of Bitgo Europe GmbH, emphasized the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and the highest standards of security and transparency.
